Dyslexia Screening & Intervention

South Side Bee Branch Dyslexia Program

During the 2022-2023 school year, South Side Bee Branch Public School District used the multi-sensory, systematic, and Orton-Gillingham based program Connections OG in 3D by The Apple Group in small group intervention for students exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia. South Side Bee Branch School District currently has in each building interventionists and classroom teachers implementing this program with fidelity. 

  • Screeners and Assessments: 

    • ACT 1039 requires universal screening of students in grades K-2 in the areas of encoding, decoding, phonological awareness, sound/symbol recognition, rapid naming, and alphabet knowledge as well as selective screening in grades 3-12. South Side Bee Branch School District currently uses a combination of the following but is not limited to: DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy Skills), DSA (Developmental Spelling Analysis), AR-RAN (Arkansas Rapid Automatized Naming Screener), and iStation Assessment. 

  • Number of Students who Received Dyslexia Intervention: 36

  • Number of Students Identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia: 34
